TESTED ON APPLE M2
Game compatibility notes.
These are firsthand results from the current PrivatePlay build, not a promise that every Windows game will run. A game can install successfully and still fail when its graphics or online features start.
Among Us — Epic Games Windows version
Status: Reached live gameplay, with a visible half-screen lighting problem at fullscreen Retina resolution.
We tested on an Apple M2 Mac with macOS 26, Wine Staging 11.18, and the optional DXVK DirectX 11 layer. Without DXVK, Among Us showed a DirectX 11 initialization error. After enabling DXVK, the game launched and reached gameplay. A sharp vertical boundary left one half of the view much darker than the other.
The screen capture was 3420 × 2214 pixels while the game reported a 1710 × 1107 fullscreen mode. The boundary appeared near x = 1710 pixels. That suggests a Retina scale or render target sizing problem, but the exact graphics cause has not been confirmed.
PrivatePlay now offers a Try windowed mode option for Among Us. It requests a 1280 × 720 window for one launch and does not change the saved game setup. This is a reversible experiment; it has not yet been verified to remove the lighting issue.
Other Epic games
PrivatePlay can list owned Windows games through Legendary and report installation progress. We have not completed a gameplay test for another Epic title on this build. Extra launchers, anti-cheat systems, and game-specific graphics requirements remain possible blockers.
Windows Steam
The app can start the official Windows Steam installer in a separate game setup and look for installed game manifests. This flow has not been verified end to end on the current build. If a game has a native Mac version, the official Mac Steam client is the simpler choice.
What to try when a game fails
- Check the game's own Mac version first. A native version avoids Windows graphics translation.
- If a Windows game reports a DirectX 11 error, use PrivatePlay's per-setup DirectX 11 option and try again.
- If the image is distorted, compare windowed and fullscreen modes at a lower resolution.
- Read the recent activity message in PrivatePlay. It can distinguish an install still running from a launch that has ended.
See the setup guide for the exact app steps. This page will be updated as more titles are tested.
